In the mid-90s, Aaron Hageman acquired Delivery Drivers Inc. for $1 and spent the next 26 years building it into a national gig-economy powerhouse — growing it 75x before Walmart came knocking.
We met Aaron in his final year at the company. He had everything: the track record, the credibility, the operator's mind. What he needed was a strategic architecture for what came next.
The Challenge
After 26 years as the operator of DDI, Aaron's professional identity was inseparable from the company. The exit created a vacuum that needed to be filled with purpose, not just activity.
Decades of hard-won operator wisdom lived entirely in Aaron's head. There was no framework, no curriculum, no scalable vehicle to extract and distribute that knowledge.
Post-exit, Aaron had no established category in the market. He was known as the DDI founder — not yet as a strategist, author, or thought leader in his own right.
